Financial AI for Claude: a finance connector with up-to-date market data

Financial AI® is a connector for Claude. Once you add it, Claude can send your investing questions to Financial AI, which answers them from curated financial data with the numbers, tables and charts behind the answer, and Claude can read the data itself for its own analysis. It works in Claude on the web and in the desktop app, and in Claude Code.

Add Financial AI to Claude

  1. In Claude, open Settings → Connectors and add a custom connector.
  2. Name it Financial AI and paste this address: https://thefinancial.ai/api/finai-mcp
  3. Connect it, then sign in to Financial AI on the page that opens, or create an account there (a free trial, no card needed), and allow access.

On Team and Enterprise plans, an owner adds the connector for the organization and each member connects it with their own Financial AI account.

Add Financial AI to Claude Code

Run this once in a terminal:

claude mcp add --transport http financial-ai https://thefinancial.ai/api/finai-mcp

Then start Claude Code, type /mcp, choose financial-ai and sign in. Financial AI's workflows (company fundamentals, prices and technicals, earnings and forecasts, stock screening, strategy backtesting, options, macro data, ETF holdings, event studies, your portfolios) also appear as slash commands.

What Claude can do with it

  • Ask Financial AI. Claude passes your question to Financial AI and gets back the finished answer, written up with its tables and charts.
  • Read the data itself. About 280 data functions (prices, fundamentals, estimates, indicators, macro series, options, ETF holdings, the earnings calendar) that Claude can search and call, with results kept on our servers for 24 hours and downloadable as CSV or JSON.
  • Run its own analysis next to the data. Claude can write Python that runs on Financial AI's servers, in an isolated sandbox, and get back only the result.
  • Work on your account. Read your portfolios, watchlist and saved strategies and screens, and, with your permission, change them: manual portfolios, the watchlist, saved strategies and screeners, notification settings.

Claude can draw the charts with its own charting, from the exact values Financial AI returns. Financial AI's fundamental forecasts cover 1,400+ U.S. companies for the next reported quarter.

Financial AI places no orders and moves no money. Broker connections are read-only, and you connect or disconnect a broker on the website.

Good to know

  • Time. Most answers take about a minute; a backtest of several strategies can take longer. Claude keeps checking until the answer is ready.
  • Free trial. Questions asked through Claude count toward the same trial as questions asked on the website. When the trial ends, Financial AI answers with how to keep access: a subscription, or sales@thefinancial.ai for institutional accounts.
  • Privacy. Claude receives the answers and data Financial AI sends back, and Anthropic's terms apply to your Claude chats. How Financial AI handles your data, including use through AI assistants, is in the Privacy Policy.
