An alternative to fiscal.ai (formerly FinChat): how Financial AI compares

Updated

fiscal.ai was called FinChat until June 2025, when it was renamed and widened its focus from the chat interface to "financial data infrastructure": a research terminal, a data API and connectors for AI assistants. finchat.io now forwards to fiscal.ai. If you are looking for an alternative to either name, which one fits depends on the job, so this page sets out what each product does, using each maker's own pages, checked on November 6, 2026.

In short

  • fiscal.ai is a public-company data and research terminal: fundamentals, segments and KPIs, filings, transcripts and estimates for a very wide set of companies, with AI summaries and an API.
  • Financial AI® is an AI research assistant: you ask an investing question in plain English and it runs the analysis, including backtests of trading strategies, screens, its own point-in-time fundamental forecasts and an analysis of your portfolio, and shows the data behind the answer. It also works inside ChatGPT and Claude.

Which one to choose

fiscal.ai suits you if you mostly read companies: their filings, transcripts, segments and KPIs, across many markets, or if you want a fundamentals data feed for your own software.

Financial AI suits you if you want the analysis done for you: test a trading idea without code, screen for stocks, check a company against Financial AI's own forecasts and their track record, see your portfolio's real exposure, or ask all of that from inside ChatGPT or Claude. To see how it compares with Composer, TrendSpider and a general chatbot as well, read the comparison of AI stock research tools. To try it on your own questions, start your free trial.

Product features change often; check each maker's site for the current state. If fiscal.ai sees an error, write to support@thefinancial.ai and we will correct it. This page does not cover prices.
